CorelDraw

CorelDraw is the most widely used graphics program in Nigeria. It can be used either as a page layout program (DTP) or as an Illustration program. The 1-day course will cover the most useful aspects of Corel, concentrating on the drawing side of the program, but the use of Corel as a page layout program will also be explored.

Adobe Creative Suite (CS)

Adobe CS is the world's market leading set of programs in the Design for Print field. Each of the programs we are offering in this series of training is, in its own right, the UK’s market leading program in Photo-Editing (Photoshop), Illustration (Illustrator) or Page Layout (InDesign). Any of these programs can be used in conjunction with Adobe Acrobat to create pdf files.

Photoshop

So a photo never lies? Oh, but it does! Almost every photo that makes its way onto the published page has been through Photoshop. You can take an average photo and make it special; take a photo that would clash and change its colour; take an unsuitable photo and make it perfect! There is very little that Photoshop cannot do. There are a host of colour and tonal adjustment tools and effects; photos on different layers can be manipulated and blended together; changes can be made to contrast, colour distortions; unsightly objects, are no longer a problem and can be removed in one step. And on top of all that, Photoshop is a really FUN program to use.

Illustrator

Although there are many very good programs, such as CorelDraw, available on the market, Illustrator has become the most widely used. It obviously helps that it is fully compatible with Photoshop and InDesign, but it is also the largest of all the illustration/drawing programs, encouraging the most professional and creative artwork possible. All the most useful tools can be explored in a single day; and techniques for both 2-d and 3-d logo design are surprising easy to use.

InDesign

Bring all your artwork, created in both Photoshop and Illustrator, together for publication using InDesign. This is the Page Layout program that, in its very short history of only 8 years, has taken the design world by storm. In the UK which has a very dynamic graphics industry. InDesign became market leader in the summer of 2005, when some of the last remaining magazine publishing houses and most of the newsprint industry, migrated from Quark and CorelDraw to the most creative of all page layout programs - InDesign.
